Sado's arms

I didnt really get it what's the deal with sado's arms. So his right arm is for protection as a shield and the left one is for attack ?..so until now he only used the defending one ?..

the basic idea is ...untill now he was fighting for others,to protect only..like the flashbacks also show.. thats why his protective arm developed first. the second arm developed only now since he isnt fighting only to protect. Given the fact that it also said that his arms are of somewhat hollow origin, he now longs to fight instead of just protect thus his other arm woke up aswell..nothing more to explain than that i guess...

The way I understood it, was that entering hueco mundo woke up the dormant hollow nature, which brought out his killing nature, embodied in his "Izqierda brazo del gigantes", or "left arm of the giant". I liked how when he punched the one guy into the wall it made the crazy hollow symbol with the impact.
